Chances of rain return Thursday

Another stellar day is coming to a close with a few high clouds across the area ahead of a weak disturbance that will move into the area and fizzle out on Thursday. This will produce more clouds, and a chance of a few light showers mainly north of Seattle and Everett to start the day Thursday and then a few light showers or just sprinkles areawide through the day. Highs will be in the lower to middle 60s.

It will also be breezy in spots, especially near water and around Whidbey Island on Thursday and into early Friday though wind gusts will remain below 30mph in most spots, except perhaps a little stronger on Whidbey Island. East of the Cascades, a Wind Advisory has been issued for the usual windy spots around Ellensburg and Wenatchee for Thursday.

There’s a chance of a mountain shower or a few light areas of rain in the North Sound on Friday morning but mainly a dry day with partly to mainly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the mid 60s in Seattle.

While we need more substantial rainfall, it appears now a stronger weather system will bring more rain to the mountains on Saturday and some passing showers in the lowlands. Rainfall amounts in the mountains could exceed on inch on the higher terrain, while in the lowlands, rainfall amounts of a few hundredths to a few tenths of an inch is possible – mainly favoring locations near the mountains, along the coast, and north of Everett. Highs will be in the 50s to low 60s.

We’ll be drier on Sunday and Monday with some clouds and sun, before better chances of rain come back around Tuesday and Wednesday.

It looks to continue to be cooler than average most days through Memorial Day, though it’s too early for a specific forecast for that holiday weekend.
